
Litigation and advice in IP matters, focusing on trademark law, procuring trademark protection and handling international trademark portfolios; domain registration and administration of worldwide domain name portfolios; trademark and design infringement litigation; unfair practices (unfair competition), R&D and licensing agreements, patent usurpation, employee inventions and trade secrets.
Peter Munzinger handles trademark portfolios in various sectors, including machine and plant engineering, wood processing, the chemical industry, fashion, food, orthopaedic equipment, electronic games, hotels, and shipbuilding.
Recently, he was lead counsel in a trademark conflict involving an international hotel mark confronted with the bad faith registration of a mark in Germany. Other important litigation cases concerned trademark infringement proceedings for a major German company in the field of industrial machinery and processing equipment, employee inventions, patent usurpation and the protection of the name and personality rights of a world-famous guitarist. Other current tasks are the monitoring of the trademark-related aspects regarding the implementation of a Germany-wide customer retention programme and trademark protection for a US song-writer in the EU.
Peter Munzinger is a frequent speaker at international IP conferences and an active committee member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and has published books and articles on the Community Trademark and German trademark issues (see publications).
Following an international survey, Peter Munzinger was individually recommended in Best Lawyers 2010, in The International Who's Who of Trademark Lawyers (Who's Who Legal) and in the Guide to the World's Leading Trade Mark Law Practitioners 2008 (MIP magazine) as one of Germany’s leading trademark lawyers. Peter Munzinger is also individually recommended in Legal 500 EMEA 2009 and JUVE German Commercial Law Firms 2009/2010.
